To achieve this, we begin each project by carefully diagramming the ground plane with topography, stands of trees, pathways, rock outcrops, distant views and needs for privacy, an understanding of where the water flows, and how the sun tracks across the sky. With these landmark site components in mind, we program your property for key places to spend your time- both inside and out. These special places are best when they are easily accessible: Navigating more than 3 successive steps is an event that requires agility and the right shoes. Guard rails define boundaries rather than create connections, so we try to omit them. Expansive glass and exterior doors within that glass encourage easy movement inside and out. Sun exposure, connection to the ground, integration with plants and natural textures stimulate our senses and create an intimate awareness of nature. This connection changes us.
