We are a boutique design studio in Downtown Saco, Maine catering to people looking for meaningful architecture. It is our passion to create living and work spaces that connect you more seamlessly and meaningfully with the natural world.

Our Process

Phase 1

Listen and Translate

We listen first, research second, and design third. Design is always in response to something, so we must gather a deep understanding about you, your property, and your budget before we make our first line. From there, our creative pursuit is to translate very real parameters into a tangible reality that improves your daily life by connecting you more seamlessly to the natural world.

At the conclusion of Phase 1, we have a complete floor plan with elevations and a 3D model of your building.

Reconciling cost– within Phase 1, but often continuing through Phase 2, we will pair your ‘wish list’ with your ‘budget’. In most all cases, the battle is set and these two objectives face off as imbalanced foes. Our process levels out this balance, exposing how to provide the best design for your money.

Phase 2

Design and Detail

Phase 2 is a critical phase where the art of design meets the science of structure, energy management and the assembly process. The phase culminates with a complete recipe the contractor will use to price the project and build it. These final drawings and documents will be used as the primary means of communicating the ideas we established in Phase 1 to all the people who will be involved in the project, from building officials and planning boards, to contractors and fabricators, banks and engineers.

Phase 3

Build and Endure

Once a contractor is selected and the project permitted, we follow the project through to completion to ensure the original design intent is delivered with striking precision. The contractor is responsible for all construction. Our job, however, is monitoring that construction, verifying all materials, products and assemblies are ordered and installed as specified and assembled together for a durable and enduring product. It takes a well managed team to do this well, and a seasoned process is central.
