This project is 40′ from the shore of Mousam Lake in Shapleigh, Maine. The seasonal cabin was expanded by the allowed 30%, the shell was reinforced to be used year-round and then insulated + weatherized, and the interior reworked to make better space for higher quality lake-side living.

Furniture is by FURNITUREA, designed and crafted locally in Maine.
The significant challenge of this project was to convert a dilapidated seasonal camp into a modern, year-round retreat. Wise and efficient design and technical upgrades were balanced with a conservative budget.
MATERIALS
The existing 2×4 stud walls are insulated with closed-cell spray foam, and the ceilings with cellulose.
Exterior Siding:
VG cedar- stained with Benjamin Moore Woodluxe semi-transparent stain
Prefinished Hardie-plank siding- 4″ exposure
American Granite stone veneer
Jeld-Wen windows
All exterior finishes were installed over Mortair Vent rain screen matrix
Interior Finishes:
Maple plank flooring
Nickel Gap 1×6 pine- stained with a custom tinted stain
