Renovation
Waterside Haven
Location: Casco, Maine- Sebago Lake

The owners purchased this existing camp on Sebago Lake to spend summers as a retreat from their California home. They had been coming to Maine with their family for years staying a couple weeks in a cabin at nearby Migis Family Camp on the East shore of Sebago Lake. They bought this property for the incredible waterfront, but the cabin was tired and in need of significant renovations. We developed the design with them proposing renovations on every floor while focusing on a more intimate connection with the waterfront and a clean, modern aesthetic.

Project Spotlight

This is a tight site with a narrow footprint with close neighbors. Organizing clear and organized circulation front to back and vertically, between the three levels was a large challenge. The location of the stair became the key first challenge to organize the plan. Shoreland zoning and the height restriction was the second challenge to figure 3 levels of living while staying under our 25′ height limit. Design iterations unfolded from there to encourage better views to the water, privacy between the neighbors and just the right amount of daylight to all spaces.
