Design Solution: This freestanding barn located in Windham, Maine is designed as a storage building for the owners equipment, a glass-blowing studio on the first level, and a play and gathering space for their growing family on the second floor. The building is designed to open on three sides to better serve the pool and entertaining area to the East, the rear yard to the South, and the main entrance off the paved driveway. Concepts of installing an outdoor kitchen fire area and organizing a better entertaining space around the pool were considered in development of the site.
The design proposal below was the first design option presented, but did not go through further development.
