The site for this new home is on the side of steep slope on the West shore of Sebago Lake. We designed it in concert with a second house on the same 7-acre property for 2 families to enjoy each other, Maine summers, and the lake. Because of the steep slope and challenges of building on the side of a mountain in the Shoreland zone along Sebago Lake, we created an upside-down living scenario where the main living level is on the lower level and the entrance, garage and bedrooms are on the upper level. Main living spaces wrap around a center ground level deck to maximize enjoyment of the water, indoor-outdoor living, and the– very important– Southern sun.
